THE DARK SIGNERS ARC


1. THE MAGICAL NIGHT

  Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Leo and Luna were waiting for the big decision, they watched Akiza talk to her parents on the end of the corridor with thoughts full of hope... After 10 minutes it was over, Aki Izayoi was walking towards them… The twins started jumping and asking how will it be as she calmly said:

-"Ok, I'm going with you guys to fight the Dark Signers, I owe this to the world."

Leo and Luna started to jump even higher screaming out loud how happy they are, Jack smiled and Yusei looked concerned at the burgundy haired girl and asked:

- "Aki are you sure? If you don't want to it's ok, we'll manage somehow cause..."
She didn't let him finish his thought by saying:

-"Yes Yusei, I'm sure, I never was so sure in entire my life." she smiled

He smiled back.


  They were transported to Satellite by officer Trudge and Mina. Yusei asked if they could make a stop at Martha's house. Trudge unwillingly acceded to this idea, but he had no choice, because Rex Goodwin clearly pointed out he should listen to Yusei Fudo and do whatever he asked him to do.  As they landed Martha welcomed them with open arms. She was so happy to see the boys again, especially Jack. She started to hug the blond boy, when suddenly her eyes focused on Yusei and she shouted:

-"My God, Yusei! What happened to your face? It's all cut!"

Yusei discreetly threw a glance at Aki, which face turned sad and responded: "Oh Martha it's nothing really." adding at the end that smile of his which usually calmed his foster mother down

Martha watched him carefully for a moment, let out a sight and said:

-"Yusei you and Jack have been fighting again right? When are you gonna grow up?! You should find yourselves girlfriends maybe then I wouldn't need to worry about the two of you that much!" after that she threw a glance at Aki, the girl became red

They talked a bit outside, Martha was in shock as she found out what mission lies before the young people. After that the woman went inside to make supper for her guest. Yusei and Jack along with the twins stayed outside to play with the kids. Aki started to look around, she wanted to see the place where Yusei grew up. The girl looked at every room very carefully, as if she would like to feel herself into the place, she closed her eyes and started to imagine how Yusei's childhood could have been when she accidently found herself in the kitchen. She saw Martha and asked if she could be of any help. The woman smiled and answered:

-"Of course, you know in such a big house with so many people there's always something to do. If that's no problem could you help me with the potatoes?"

Akiza nodded and started to peel. Martha looked at the girl carefully and said:

-"So, how is Yusei managing?"

Aki looked surprised at the woman, not knowing what to say, so Martha continued:

-"I know the boy since he was little, and I love him like he would be my son, I'm worried about him that's why I'm asking. I know he doesn't want to worry me... You're close friends, so please tell me how is he really doing?"

-"Why do you think that I would know what Yusei feels inside?" asked Aki surprised

The old woman started to laugh and answered:

-"Well don't you?"

Akiza mumbled shyly:

-"I think that the thought that his father was the one responsible for that reactor and that terrible accident kills him inside…"

-"I see..." replied the woman as she took the pot and put it on the fire. She turned her back and said: "You're free to go now, thank you very much. Now if you could go out and tell everybody that supper will be in about 30 minutes I would be very grateful."

Aki said ok, and was just about to leave as she stopped in the door and decided to enquire about something what was on her mind throughout the whole conversation with Martha:

-"Excuse me, but could you please explain me why you thought I would be the person who knows what Yusei feels inside? We barely know each other..."

The woman turned to face the girl and calmly said:

-"Because I can see that the boy has an open heart to you my child and believe me I know what I'm talking about, I raised him."

The girl blushed and left the room speechless…



The whole house had supper, the kids went to do their homework so the visitors could finally begin to talk with Martha about what lately had been happening in Satellite. In that moment their conversation was interrupted by a stranger who came in through the window, he introduced himself as one of the Dark Signers which wants to duel against Yusei Fudo. All the children ran into the dining room to see what happened. The boy didn't want to bring the orphanage in danger so he agreed very quickly, but demanded to duel somewhere far from the house. The man agreed and told Yusei to follow him, they went out. Jack gathered the kids and told everyone to go upstairs. In that moment Martha grabbed Aki and said:

-"Please, don't let him go alone, go with Yusei, he will need your support I can feel it."

-"But why me? What can I do?" asked the girl

-"Only you can get to his heart! Now go!"

The girl didn't know if the woman was right, but somehow she had trust in her and ran quickly to catch her friend.
Yusei was just about to start his Duel Runner as he heard Akiza:

-"Yusei, wait! Can I go with you?"

The boy nodded and gave her a helmet.

  The Duel ended, Yusei was devastated after losing Martha, he and Aki came back, the two had to face everyone and tell them what happened. The boys that ran away to see Yusei's duel cried and cried, but they weren't the only ones, every child in the orphanage wept, even the King Jack Atlas shed a tear when nobody was looking. Akiza along with the twins tried to calm the kids down, after nearly an hour they were asleep, then the Signers could talk the situation over. They decided to go and meet the Dark Signers tomorrow morning, so that no one else in Satellite would get hurt. Everybody went to bed. Aki couldn't get any sleep at all, she continuously thought about what Martha said her and repeated in her head the same questions over and over again: "How , how did she know?" and: "What did she mean that I can get to his heart?". The girl wiped her eyes, stood up and went to get a glass of water, hopping that would help. She was standing in the kitchen as she heard some noise outside, despite of the fact how frightened she was she went out to see what was going on. It was dark everywhere, the wind blew some leafs in her face, when she got rid of them she saw someone, near one of the trees. She approached this figure, when she got closer, she saw it was a man, he was hitting the tree with his fists. She grabbed his arm, he turned his head, it was Yusei… He was crying… He looked at her, his beautiful blue eyes where full of anger and despair.

-"Leave me alone Aki!" he shouted

The girl felt so sorry for him and initially she wanted to carry out his request, but then she remembered what Martha told her and said:

-"No I won't Yusei! Please let me help you."

The boy shouted-"There's nothing you can say that will make me feel better! I lost the Duel and it's because of me Martha is gone! Everything is because of me, it's my fault from the very beginning!"

The girl knew there were no word's that could heal Yusei's deep wound so she said:

-"You're right, there's nothing I can say that will make you feel any better, but I can be with you here and now and give you all the support you need." After these word's Aki Izayoi wrapped her arms around Yusei's waist and snuggled into the boy's back, tears went down her face when she said:

-"Please Yusei, let me be with you and let me help you, like you helped me."

The boy's eyes went wide open and so they stood without saying anything in that position for about an hour. Aki didn't let go of him even when he continued to hit the tree again and again, with every blow harder and harder. She could feel his heart, it was hurt, he was hurt, deeply hurt… She felt that pain and wished she could take it away… Finally Yusei turned and saw Aki in the eyes, they were still covered with tears, just like his. The girl looked at him and said:

-"Martha is a wonderful person and she loves you so much. I'm sure she has faith in you and she will never lose that faith no matter what. Just like me…"

Yusei smiled, wiped his friend's face then his face and said:

-"Thank you Aki for this night, thank you for not leaving me alone…"

Akiza smiled and thought, Martha is the one you should be thankful, if it wasn't for her I would never have had the guts to come to you…
Aki grabbed his hands, they had blood all over, and so she took him to the kitchen and dressed each hand. After that both went to grab some sleep to have strength to challenge the next day…
