THE DARK SIGNERS ARC

3. THE SUNRISE OF A NEW LIFE

  The duel was over… Aki Izayoi slowly walked towards Misty's necklace, the only thing what was left of her rival… She took it in her hands, it still played that beautiful melody… Tears streamed down her face and when she was just about to stand up she suddenly fell. Yusei rushed towards her and took the girl in his arms, she seemed to be unconscious.

-"Aki! Aki! Wake up Aki!" shouted the boy, finally she opened her eyes
-"Yusei…" she whispered and burst into tears

The boy looked at her with eyes full of compassion…

-"Misty… What have I done?!" the duelist despaired
-"You only did what you had to do Aki, what all of us had to do. This was necessary to save the world. Misty wanted you to end this duel." said Yusei with a calm voice
-"I killed her do you understand that?!" shouted the girl
-"Hush." he hugged her tight and added "I'm with you."
-"But I'm a monster!" she hit him with her fists, trying to push the boy away but he wouldn't let go of her…
-"No, you're not!" he answered and gently stroke her hair
-"How can you know?! responded the girl and wrenched herself out of his arms "You don't know how it's like… I've… I've done such terrible, terrible things in my life, hurt so many people and the worst thing about it is I don't remember most of these deeds because I was completely possessed by my powers!"
-"Aki this was all in the past,  it's all right now, you've changed."
-"Have I Yusei?! And what happened a few minutes ago? I was out of control! Again!"
-"That was Divine's doing and he's gone now." , he slowly approached her
-"And what if I'm the one to blame…? If I'm evil inside?" asked the girl with eyes full of doubt
-"That's impossible." answered the duellist with a smile
-"Why?!" his friend questioned
-"It's simple, I don't believe the Crimson Dragon would choose someone evil to save the world."
-"Maybe this happened by mistake…" she looked down
-"You where the one who opened my heart..." he laid his hand on her check, wiped with his thumb a tear that was on it and continued "And that's no mistake Aki…"

The girl stopped crying and stared at Yusei with wide open eyes

-"What do you mean by that Yusei...?"
-"I wanted to tell you this for a long time... I..." Yusei couldn't end his thought because the twins along with Mina and Ushio came shouting Aki should hurry up and put her card in the reactor to stop the King of the Underworld, but it was too late. The Signers didn't make it, the sky turned black, a big condor geoglyph showed up and the monster woke up...


Their last chance to save the earth was to fight and win against Goodwin. Yusei, Jack and Crow decided to take the challenge and started their engines. Yusei turned his head to see Aki, she stood there and looked troubled, he send her a smile and took off…

Akiza watched the duel and couldn't stop worrying about Yusei. This made her realize how strong her feelings for the boy are, how strong they always were.  Yusei was the first one, she thought to herself, The first one who noticed a person in me and not a monster... He never judged me and now he's fighting for his life, for everyone's life… With every attack on the duelist the girl's heart seemed to beat harder and harder.

As she saw the monster release some dragon looking creatures which headed out straight at her beloved she came into action.

-"I won't let you interfere! I will fight as well! For the sake of the first friends I've made!" Aki yelled and summoned her Black Rose Dragon. Yusei… I won't let you hurt Yusei. she whispered as her Dragon took flight

Yusei on the other hand was so concentrated on the duell he didn't even notice he was about to get attacked by the hostile envoys. All of a sudden he saw a big shadow over him it was the Black Rose Dragon which saved him.

-"Aki… he whispered. "In order to see you again I have to win this fight." he thought, but was roused from his pensiveness by Jack which shouted it was his turn

Watching both Jack and Crow crash the brown eye began to lose hope… She looked at the twins, they kept cheering and supporting Yusei that's when she said to herself:
-"What am I thinking! I can't lose my faith. Not in him. Not in Yusei…"

That's when Aki felt pain, all of a sudden her arm glowed, so did Luna's and Jack's, it was the Crimson Dragon. It felt all the warm emotions and encourage surrounding Yusei and gave him enormous power. On the boy's back appeared the mark of the Signers bonds in which he always believed and in his deck he found the card that lead him to victory.

The fight drew to an end, Savior Star Dragon brought the three brave warriors safe back and disappeared leaving a beautiful shimmering trail behind. Their friends where already waiting for them. Mina came running to Jack, Leo and Luna ran excited to welcome Crow in their Signers bunch and Ushio went to congratulate Yusei. The officer tapped him on the shoulder and said "Well done Satellite! Maybe you're not all that bad..." Yusei smiled and made his way towards Akiza, which stood petrified a few steps away from him.

-"We did it Aki." said the boy with a wide smile as he approached his friend

The girl's eyes filled up with tears as she threw her arms around his neck and said:
-"Yusei, I was so worried about you. These thoughts, that I would never see you again… They were killing me!" she pulled back her head "I couldn't live in a world without you Yusei…"
-"You don't have to." answered the boy and continued "Aki I've been meaning to tell you something…" he wrapped his hands around her waist "Since the first moment I saw you I felt something special…" the boy slightly blushed "It took me a long time to figure out what it was, but now I know…" he smiled "You opened my heart again ,but not just for friendship, also for love… I…  I fell in love with you Aki."

-"Yusei…" the girl slowly touched his face with her palm "Is this real or is it just a dream…?" that's when he grabbed her hand pulling her body to his and then gently pressed his lips against hers…
They kissed, it seemed as if the whole world wouldn't exist… It was just the two of them, until they heard a familiar voice…

-"Well finally!!! Go Yusei!! Go Aki!!" it was Leo cheering them on

Aki and Yusei turned their heads and saw the happy faces of their friends. Luna and Mina threw a glance at each other and thought exactly the same thing, namely that the couple should have some time for them. Luna grabbed Leo, Mina pushed the rest of the gang and so Yusei and Aki were left alone...

The couple smiled at the gang and looked each other deep in the eyes.
-"Yusei…" the girl looked at him shyly "I feel the same… I mean…" she blushed "I always have, sinnccce the first day we met. I knew how I was and I didn't want to hurt you or to get hurt myself that's why I tried to push you away…"

-"But I just wouldn't go right?" threw in the boy and laughed
-"No you wouldn't…" she smiled back "Yusei, you too have opened my heart, but furthermore you made me who I am today… There couldn't be any one else in whom I could be in love but in  you Yusei Fudo…" confided the girl

-"Aki I couldn't be more happy…" he hugged her tight, and that's when it got brighter, it was the sun which began to shine

Yusei looked at his beloved and said:

-"It's the first sunrise of a new life, the life that I'm going to share with you Aki…"
So they stood there and kissed, with the sun beams warming their faces, the wind blowing through their hair and the waves crashing against the coast…
